We are proud to inform you that our Nurse Aide Program is fully licensed by the State Board of Community Colleges, ensuring that our program meets and exceeds the rigorous standards set by the state for nurse aide education. This licensure is a testament to our commitment to maintaining the highest levels of education, training, and patient care.
Our program is 119 hours which includes 79 hours of theory and 40 hours of clinical practice at UNC.

What can I expect to learn during training?
Fundamental principles of patient care
Proper techniques for assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
Safe transfer and positioning of patients
Infection control procedures and techniques
Basic measurement skills including vital signs monitoring (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure)
Understanding and utilization of medical terminology
Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members
Documentation and charting procedures
Recognizing and responding to emergencies and providing basic first aid
Ethical and legal considerations in healthcare
Cultural competency and sensitivity when caring for diverse patient populations
Working as part of a healthcare team and understanding the roles of various healthcare professionals
Preparation for the state certification exam for nurse aides
What happens when your training has been completed?
After training you will need to schedule a Competency exam administered by Credentia. The test has two parts: a theory and practical section.
